Experience:
Rob Keating began working as a corporate securities and tax
attorney with Howard O. Bernstein,
P.C. in August of
2006. Rob’s practice focuses on general corporate
matters
dealing with capital structure and business formation, mergers and acquisitions,
corporate,
partnership and individual taxation, commercial
contracts and financial
transactions. During law school,
Rob was an Associate Editor of the University
of
Colorado Law Review, and the 2005-2006 Co-Chair
of the Rothgerber Moot Court
Competition, the preeminent moot court competition at the University of Colorado
School of Law. Rob also served as Treasurer for the Class of 2006.
Rob worked as Lead Author and Research Coordinator for the Energy and Environmental Security Initiative—a university center at the University of Colorado School of Law—through March 2007. Rob authored a report to the Colorado Legislature entitled: Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading: Emerging Markets and Opportunities for Colorado. This research was commissioned pursuant to C.R.S. § 25-1-1303(2)(c). The report examines the impacts, opportunities and risks for Colorado, its citizens and businesses associated with emissions trading systems and a concomitant federal, regional or state cap on greenhouse gas emissions, most notably carbon dioxide.
Before attending law school, Rob lived in Seattle, Washington where he worked in the legal department of a retirement consulting firm, working extensively with the Employee Retirement Income Security Act. As an undergraduate, Rob received a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Washington, focusing his studies primarily on finance and accounting. Rob also served as the 2001 Interfraternity Council President and as a Senator for the Associated Students of the University of Washington (ASUW).
